Field Trips and Adult Groups at PMMC

Bring your group to PMMC to investigate the world of marine mammals through our one hour marine mammal education programs. Programs include private instruction and the opportunity to view and hear about current patient stories. All programs are aligned with Next Generation Science Standards, Disciplinary Core Ideas, Cross Cutting Concepts, and Science and Engineering Practices.


1 p.m. and 3 p.m. (PST) Monday through Friday

10 a.m. and 12 p.m. (PST) on Saturdays

Cost: $10 per person.

Limited to groups with 8 to 24 people.

There is a $25 non-refundable deposit. This will go toward program costs.

Meet the Patients - Marine Mammal Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Release

Meet patients being cared for at Pacific Marine Mammal Center’s hospital and hear their stories. Take a tour and observe procedures that help them recover. Discuss human impact on the animals and their environment and environmentally friendly practices that can help.

Marine Mammal Senses

A dynamic presentation comparing and contrasting sensory systems of marine mammals and humans and why they are different. Learn how marine mammals are exquisitely adapted to life in the ocean and discuss human impacts making it harder for them to use their senses for everyday living.

California Sea Lion Life History and Ecology

Learn about California sea Lion life history and ecology. Learn about what makes marine mammals unique and the classification of sea lions. Discover the habitat, life cycle, diet, predators and common behaviors of California sea lions. Explore human impacts on marine mammals and ways to be a good environmental steward.
